Sithonia is the middle of the three Halkidiki peninsulas in northern Greece. The nearest airport is Thessaloniki (SKG), about 1h 45m by car. There is no rail link and public buses are limited, so most travellers rent a car at the airport.

Yes, practically speaking. The peninsula is long and spread out, beaches and villages are not always within walking distance, and bus services are seasonal. A small car is enough.
