SEA La Vie
The Sithonia peninsula from above — pines, coves and Aegean water

Where to Stay in Sithonia

Choosing your
stretch of coast.

A short orientation

Five areas, five rhythms.

Sithonia is the middle of the three Halkidiki peninsulas. It is small enough to drive end-to-end in a couple of hours, but each part has its own character — calm family bays, lively beach towns, fishing harbours, and quiet coves reached only by boat. The guide below is honest: who each area is for, and what you trade away.

Kalogria & Nikiti (west coast, north)

A long, sheltered bay of fine sand and pines. Calm water, family-friendly, with a quiet pace once you're a few minutes from the village of Nikiti. Sunsets are direct into the Aegean. Best for travellers who want a beach within walking distance and a slower rhythm.

This is where SEA La Vie Studio sits — a few minutes on foot down to Kalogria Beach.

Vourvourou (east coast, north)

A scattered settlement of small bays, islets and shallow lagoons. The water is famously clear and the Diaporos archipelago is just offshore — easy to reach by small boat. Good for swimming, paddling and quiet days. Limited nightlife.

Neos Marmaras (west coast, middle)

The largest town on Sithonia. Restaurants, bars, a marina, and easy day trips to Porto Carras. Best for travellers who want a town atmosphere with shops and tavernas within walking distance.

Sarti (east coast, middle)

A long sand beach facing Mount Athos at sunrise. Lively in August, much calmer in June and September. A good base if you want a beach town with a proper main street.

Porto Koufo (south)

A near-enclosed natural harbour at the southern tip of the peninsula. Fishing boats, a handful of seafood tavernas, deep water. Best for travellers who want quiet, a working harbour feel, and proximity to the wilder southern beaches.

If we had to choose

For a calm, beach-first stay with sunsets directly onto the water, the Kalogria stretch is hard to beat. For boat days and very clear, sheltered swimming, Vourvourou. For a town atmosphere, Neos Marmaras. For real quiet at the southern tip, Porto Koufo.
